You should watch I, II, III,IV, V, VI in that order now that all of the movies are released. Before the I, II, III episodes, Star Wars actually started with Episode IV, then came V and VI They are all awesome :)

Yes 4, 5, and 6 were made prior to 1, 2, and 3.

Chapter 4 was released in 1977, 5 in 1980, 6 in 1983
Chapter 1 was released in 1999, 2 in 2002, and 3 in 2005

Yes, Chapters IV, V, VI, were made before Chapters I, II, III .

Yes, even though the first movie was episode IV, the first 3 episodes weren't even planned way after the success of the 70's and 80's movies. My favorite is episode V The empire strikes back!

Not only were they made before (as so many have said) they were written before.
And because of the many changes in Lucas' out looks in the world and such that is why he botched them and how they should have been put together.

I write this for all the 40 year-old men living in their mother's basements as a 38 year-old married woman. Just to break the stereotype. (oh and "episode IV" was not originally released as such)

I am one of those Star Wars geeks and I think that George Lucas is off his hatter to have shot those movies in such a weird way. Couldn't he have waited for the technology to develop and then chronologically correctly shoot 'em ?

That's because George Lucas the writer-creator thought the series would generate more interest if it started in between instead of the chronicle order.

Because the 4th one was the only one with a beginning middle and end and If the movies wen't a big hit they wouldn't have to waste money on making the rest
