I know that chocolate can do harm to dogs, but I was wondering if it did anything to mice.

Long story short: we live in an old farm house. There is snow outside. A mouse here or there will try to come in. One of my children opened up a package of PopTarts, and only wanted to eat one, so we put the other one in a Ziplock bag, saving it for the next day. Well, I heard some moving around on my counter and I saw a small mouse was eating the poptart after putting a hole in the bag.
Will the chocolate in the poptart harm the mouse? Not that I care if it is dead because I hate rodents but I just don't want it to die under my stove and have it smell real bad. :) and if the poptart didn't kill it, my cats will eventually.

the only way it would harm the mouse is if you picked up the poptart with mouse still attached then put it in the toaster and turned it on .PS don't eat the poptart xx

confident, any human chocolate is undesirable for ALL animals. It has a chemical in it referred to as theobromine it fairly is poisonous. darkish chocolate has larger levels of theobromine, so is plenty worse. If the mouse has purely ingested a splash, then it is going to be ok. it often takes greater chocolate over a volume of time to poison them i'd seem into getting a mouse seize, or utilising the bucket approach to seize it alive wish I helped :-)

Chocolate in moderate amounts will not harm the mouse. It is now up to your cats to track it down.

I am not sure that a small amount would actually kill it. If it ate more then a few large bits I would be concerned, but if it only nibbled a tiny bit I don't think that would kill it.

Like most, if not all, animals they shouldn't be fed chocolate.

Mouses eat anything. and won't die. unless the cat kills it. put down some glue traps. this may do the trick. No poison cause you could kill the cat.

Well, they tend to eat anything they find lying around, but I don't think this will kill it.
