It's quite likely that all thought, and all ideas are part of a great organic process. Originality, I think, is an umbrella term best used to describe outstanding thoughts, or ideas. For instance, "There is nothing new under the sun". That's an 'outstanding' thought. Probably not, though, in it's truest definition, original.
Everything comes from something, and if an individual draws several ideas together, to form something, then yes, it does become an original idea. No doubt, it will then go onto be the basis, or part, of another idea, original, or not.
Okay, I'll admit it it, I'm completely out of my depth, and don't know what I'm talking about.

these talents or "blessings" are often demonstrated in the arts -- even in
creative writing and poetry. Think how often someone pulls an abstract
idea out "creating" humor from a situation. Biblically there is "nothing new under the sun" does not refer to the squelching of the human spirit to rum-drum cycles. We are creatures of habit -even mentally - but even look at the
culinary arts -- billions of ways to make different foods tasty and more every
day. And I do hope "the spirit world" you may deal with is truly uplifting and
constantly prevailing upon that which is of God and not "other" spirits.
Haven't you ever just suddenly, intuitively known or "seen the light" on something? Felt at ease -- and not alone nor lonely? Feel prompted to think
of something/somebody unrelated to your present activity? Act on the good,
and disregard that which is selfish and you'll probably get many more
"original concepts" from time to time. If you don't -- perhaps you're off track from finding the SOURCE of that "underlying structure".

Hmmm...interesting question and you have a point, alot of ideas are generated from other ideas, however i do believe that the simple task of actually coming up with something unique or diverse from an already known idea is still something that requires creativity. Cuz everything around us can be an inspiration, you know..its what you do with your inspired ideas that make them your own unique creation. And having said that, i also must say that yes, i do believe that there is such a thing as originality and that people are capable of coming up with completely new concepts, even ones that havent been inspired from any previous ideas. :)

Yes... There is
Few may seem to understand but considering all you have said, i can still say that originality is at existence.
True, people tend to get their ideas from existing concepts, add a few to it then its a new idea. that way, they are expressing their originality. their work is an original because they had added a few of their insights to strengthen the existing idea. with this action, another idea was born, creating another origin in which someone in the near future might think of adding in it some other conceptions.
this cycle builds new originals in which someday in turn might use as a building block of new ideas.
remember that everyone is a unique individual. nothing in this world is completely similar to another. there are differences, only many of us have difficulties in finding them because they are very small. everything is original.

there is continually a clean theory somwehere - like an invention that noone else has ever considered. the fellow who thinks that up is being unique. notwithstanding, in the present day human beings are called "unique" for purely rehashing some thing old that hasn't been considered for a lengthy time period - which incorporates placing a way with "unfashionable" fashions or infant names. The be conscious has lost its real meaning and fee.

sYes, you can combine concepts and ideas into an original concept. But "spontaneous" originality? I don't think so.

The spirit world gives us wonderfully original ideas...but then, since they are from spirits, they are not really original...just passed on to human beings who think they are original.
