Nuclear energy is the energy source of the future, like it or not. It is cheaper and safer than almost any other energy source.

Bush is concerned about the type reactors Iran is using. They can be used for making bomb grade materials. His concern is understandable from some aspects because they are not the safest or cheapest type reactor to build so you have to wonder why they choose to build them. There may be other factors involved in the decision besides weapons though.

My issue is the presumed guilt associated with the reactors. Bush and the rest the world assumes Iran has weapon building plans and they might. However it isn't the US or anyone else's place to tell others what they can or cannot do within their own borders. It isn't just the US worried about Iran and nuclear energy. It is a lot of the world. There are some valid concerns there but the problem should be resolved through negotiations rather than brute force.

On the other side of it, any country that even threatens to use a nuclear weapon on another country should be removed from the map. I don't care who it is, nuclear weapons should not be used ever and are a huge waste of money.

I think the issue is more about Iran dumping US Dollar reserves and their disdain for what they view as Zionist oppression of the Palastinians than nuclear power.

If not for these things, we would be getting along with Iran fine as they have made many policy movements toward westernization recently.

It really wouldnt matter if Iran were able to build a nuclear weapon if they didnt have the guts to use it. I genuinely believe that these people are being incited by members within their leadership to feel like this is the only justifiable action to take.
