I had a friend in high school that could write songs. She didn't want to be a singer though. She had a way to sell her songs and a few of them were bought by well known bands. A lot of songs, and I'm sure raps, are not written by the singers. I'm not sure how she made contact with the companies that bought the songs, but I'm sure you could find some easily online. To have your song or rap copyrighted and bought by a well known artist would be a great way to get your name in the business and make some money, too. I think that's how Missy Elliot (is that her name?) started out. She was a writer.

A friend of mine who is 17 is really good at Rap and makes everything up on his own from the lyrics to the beats etc.
Buy him some software to play around with on the computer so he could too try to have his own songs.
A way of getting popular is getting a Myspace music account which is what my friend uses and although he only adds friends on there he has got feedback of people he doesnt know saying that they find his work to be very good.
Everyone these days have myspace, and getting that will get you noticed fast, as well as a video or two on youtube.

in the world today writing rap or rhymes is just not good en ought you have to be able to spit (rap) unless he wants to write for others in both cases you still have to be musically talented if he is not already i would encourage him to take music lessons learn about chords base lines bars harmonies etc you will find that many rappers are musically gifted they know when the music sounds a bit off take him to local music work shops make him practise at his local youth centre they sometimes have good equipment he could Even make a demo of the beats he created with his voice over the top

It's all pipe dreams. Every kid up and down the land are doing the same thing in their bedrooms, just like the aspiring DJ's with their decks. They're two-a-penny and should be concentrating on getting a real job to finance their hobby. I'd love to do my hobbies for a living but it's just not realistic. That's why I work in the week to fund them.

Get him on uTube doing his thing as that has the potential to be a massive audience. Keep sending demos etc to the big wigs of music and don't worry about any knock backs - we all know it doesn't happen overnight.
Good luck to your son. I wish him every success.

Could you contact a radio station, and maybe they would have the best links/contacts such as Choice Fm, or Kiss or Premier Christian Radio depending on what he is rapping about

Have him record some demo's...send it to a college radio station in the area...if there is none, it's on you to provide him the tools he needs to succeed. Drive him to some shows for inspiration, take him to freestyle battles somewhere. .If he's got what it takes then you should do whatever you can to help him reach his full potential. Try looking up some studios in your city..talk to the producers they will know where to send him. Make sure he is always true to himself.

Ha, you end with God is good. He most likely writes extremely nerdy raps that won't have mass appeal.

Don't bet on it, rap is available to anybody with an IQ > 80 so there are already too many of them trying to be known...
