Haha!

I was just about to launch into my defence of Iago and I realised that you were cheekily asking for help with your homework... Good thinking, but I suppose a lot of that goes on in here???

His motive is definitely credible and adequate, history shows a thirst for power has always led to the destruction of someone great - The story of Caesar is a good parallel; the 'best friend' being the person that bears the 'dagger'.

People may disagree that this is an adequate motive, as there is no right or wrong answer but Iago wanted more power for himself and Desdemona was the perfect pawn. The fact that Othello was a moor made the plan all the more easy as it was so simple to plant seeds of doubt in a man that's position and choice of partner has brought controversy and jealousy...

That is all, you have my opinion on your question but I will say no more - Othello was a foolish man, if he was as strong a thinker as he was a leader then Iago nor anyone else would have been able to destroy him.

I want a best answer for this.

I think his motive was envy. He was an insignificant man who wanted something that he couldn't obtain, so he took the shortest path towards his goal: it's always easier to destroy than to create and a stupid man will always take the road to destruction, no matter how intelligent his schemes may appear to be. To sum up: no, his motive is not credible or adequate.

No. YOU write the paper. If you want help with some aspect of the paper, you can ask questions. But asking people on Yahoo to "write a defense of Iago" means you did not even change the question from your teacher, much less do any reading of your own.

His motives were all of jealousy and spite. He himself wanted to fool others into thinking that he was the devil.
