Do you think this is a great statement by England's Prime Minister Tony Blair?

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America, he said:

"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in... how many want out. Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom."

I like Tony Blair's international policy. He is truly a Jeffersonian Liberal. Thomas Jefferson is the first US president to declare war against an Islamic nation because of state sponsored terrorism.

One thing that I think a lot of people will miss here is that quite often soldiers die defending their own country. There is nothing wrong with giving one's life for one's nation.

"The American GI" more often dies defending someone else's freedom.

To me, this exemplifies the "American" ideal from the Declaration of Independence, "All men are created equal" and all of them deserve our respect. The United States is no more perfect than the average person and often falls short of this goal, but, they also far exceed expectations in the service they give to others.

Lots of people think offering people a hand up is buying them off, as if a charity is a purchase of souls. You won't often find these "scrooges" giving for the common good of all people, if they help anyone they help only themselves and the people who think, look and act the way they do.

Blair acts as if these soldiers want to go out there and get killed. To be honest most of them don't know why they are fighting anyway. How could he part his mouth with those words. He's just as confused as the rest of them.
