even people who are supposed to know everything, like officials hardly ever get facts right, to know for sure i have to go to 5 or 6 different sources, and then decide out of them how reliable they are, i think this is a big problem in the world because it's a communication breakdown, many problems in the world would be easily solved if we were all on the same page.

I think you are wise to corroborate information. I invariably do, because information is so heavily slanted towards a given point of view or selected for its sales appeal value, one is often misled! The same applies equally to spirituality, whereby people praise their own religion which, if they did not believe fervently In it, would have either abandoned it or changed it altogether! I have never ever heard of anybody discussing his own beliefs objectively or dispassionately !

It' is true that many (most) people dont have any critical thinking or reasoning skills. You have learned a great lesson if you already know that most things that are seen as FACTS are not necessarily so. Just about everything you read is slanted towards the writer's perspective. I disagree though when you say many problems could be easily solved if we were all on the same page. we will never be on the same page because we all have different histories, cultures, parental guidance, religions, financial statuses etc. Any solution to a major problem in the world is going to be viewed differently by different people and they will be impacted by it in different ways.
