I am astonished and upset, my child has come back to school after being sick for 8 days and the teacher didn't even bother to tell her hello or ask how she was feeling. My daughter who is only 7 years was appaled at such indifference, my friends say not to bother because this is like the british are, is this true? should I make a remark to the teacher or let it go? is my child being discriminated? I like to hear british answers please. Thank you so much.

I assure you it is NOT just because the teacher is British, you get unpleasant people in every country.

Primary school teachers TEND to be nicer, in a family-type way. After that there is such mutual disrespect, and teachers, if they are not just souless pen-pushers, are afraid of even breathing too quickly in case the pupil/parents sue them for something.

Probably a one of case. Most teachers say "Good morning children" and we all chanted back "good morning Mr Brown" or
whatever their name was. Most British people have manners!
