We have a black & white cat so no matter what colour the carpet, her hairs show!
Anyone know of a good vacuum cleaner on sale in the UK to pick them up?

it doesn't matter on the make or model so long as it has an adaptor for pet hairs.... its the two way fabric that picks up in one direction then drops it so the vacuum can suck it up.
You can bye them separately at around £5.00
Oh and go bag-less I found that much better.
If you want it for alleges go for the Hoover it has a 7 filtration system whereas the Dyson only has 5 and the Hoover is the only one recommended by the British allege association

I found that the Dyson hoovers are the best for pet hairs - I have 10 dogs and they vary from white to tan to black so there is always hairs showing !!
i have used the Henry hoovers but find that they just don't have anough power to get all the hairs up and cat hair is pretty fine.
Dyson also do a specialised one for pet hairs.
Alternatively the best hoover I ever had as an all round cleaner was an Oreck but I'm not sure you can still get them - they were so light and really powerful.

What make pet hairs so difficult to pick-up is the static-electricity generated by the head of the vacuum cleaner. This makes the hairs "stick" to carpets or upholstery. Here is a simple solution and its especially good for upholstery. Take a flat sponge (the ones for washing-up are ideal) wet it in warm water, squeeze out until almost dry, then wipe across any surface that has pet hairs on it. The hairs will ball-up as the sponge passes over them and collect together. You can then pick up the bunches easily by hand or with a vacuum cleaner. The slight wetness overcomes the natural static electricity that makes the hairs difficult to get up. It can be made even more effective by adding a few drops of fabric conditioner to the water. Do try it, it really works.

there's one that that woman from hidihi (or however you spell it) advertises. Its a recharchable battery one. and it folds right down, and goes flat so its easy to get under the bed etc.. erm I think its called.

Remember the ones that you just used to roll along and they'd pick up but they had no power?? They were just a small box thing on the end of a pole? Well its like that except it does have power and it works well on dog hair.

I'm sorry I can't remember what its called. They sell it online and they sell it at the ideal home show (where I got mine!).

I have two cats and had this same issue, so I went looking to buy a product specifically made for pet hair.

I found one at a good price and it works great!

It's the Electrolux Loopie Pet Lover Cyclonic Upright Cleaner. And at £129.99 it's a great value for money.

You might be able to find it cheaper in your area.

Includes turbo nozzle with Risor Visor, ideal for pet hair removal, long crevice nozzle and dusting brush, and it really works!
