Instrument Used To Measure Humidity

There are various devices used to measure and regulate humidity. A device used to measure humidity is called a psychrometer or hygrometer.

A barometer is used to measure atmospheric pressure, which is affected by humidity, however it does not measure humidity itself: if the tempeture, altitude, and a few other variables are known, a barometer's reading can be used to calculate humidity... and a humidifier is a machine that adds humidity to the air.

There are various devices used to measure and regulate humidity. A device used to measure humidity is called a psychrometer or hygrometer. A humidistat is used to regulate the humidity of a building with a de-humidifier. These can be analogous to a thermometer and thermostat for temperature control. Humidity is also measured on a global scale using remotely placed satellites. These satellites are able to detect the concentration of water in the troposphere at altitudes between 4 and 12 kilometers. Satellites that can measure water vapor have sensors that are sensitive to infrared radiation. Water vapor specifically absorbs and re-radiates radiation in this spectral band. Satellite water vapor imagery plays an important role in monitoring climate conditions (like the formation of thunderstorms) and in the development of future weather forecasts.

I would personally choose a Hygrometer.

But also Psychrometers can be used (but these measure relative humidity.)

Hygrometer. Both digital and analog type are available in market.

You can also measure relative humidity by taking reading of dry bulb and wet bulb thermometer and finding the RH value from PSYCHROMETRIC chart.

HUMIDITY: affect water loss from plants(traspiration rate)and evaporation from animals:relative humidity (%)expressed as the amount of water vapour in the air compared to what the air would hold if completly saturated at that temprature. it will be measured by HYGROMETRE not barometre barometre is for pressure.
