I reside in India and though people are peaceloving here, we find terrorism has entered and has taken strong roots here. What are the ways of getting rid of terrorism here and can students / youth play an important role ? If yes, how should they go about it?

Inspire your friends and community to extrodinary endeavors that enhance your local community and promote a wellspring of hope.

Promote civic minded activities that invite people of all faiths and creeds into neighborhood activities. Do things that require an investment of more than just money. Embrace topics that reduce carbon debt, remember the fallen, and strengthen the bonds between young and old within a community. This will help to keep those within the community aware of the people who enter it. Bring food and drink to neighbors in hospitable gestures. The added attention and sense of community will make it harder for individuals who intend only harm to hide and prepare their efforts.
Help to encourage those who run apartment complexes and other rental properties to repair and replenish them. The constant urban renewal will help to cast away shadows from the flats where a bomb maker might make his home.
Help to identify and keep disabled cars off the street. These vehicles make the sort of eye sores favored by terrorists as bomb vehicles from hiding and abandoning their work without notice.

Your government invited the terrorists there from Afghanistan. Now you are complaining?

Deport all Muslim radicals get rid of Mullahs and Clerics and Mufti's first ( preferably by shooting them at dawn) . Take their sanals off the steps of the mosque, and sprinkle shoe tacs all over. Turn off the power at sunset and dawn so those damn minarets are silenced.

Set off a few cars bombs outside of their mosques too
