Yes a great ancient culture and a history of the great Persian People that got screwed by the shah. the shah stole billions and Jimmy carter helped him out of the country with the money. Then the Ayatollah invaded our embassy and held some people illegally. then they elected this moron that goes around talking about killing millions of Non Muslims and muslims.

Iran is a nation that until 1935 known as Persia. It had a monarchy government till 1979 when the Shah was forced to leave the country and it became an Islamic republic. US embassy in Tehran had workers kidnapped in November 4 1979 and were held until 20 January 1981.
Iran has approximately 69000000 people. They have several religions: Shi'a Muslim 89%, Sunni Muslim 9%, Zoroastrian, Jewish, Christian, and Baha'i 2%
Iran fought a indecisive bloody war with Iraq from 1980 -1988. Many people die in this conflict.
The elections of a reformist president and Majlis in the late 1990s were to try to address some of the dissatisfaction with their government but in Parliamentary elections in 2004 and the August 2005 with the inauguration of a conservative stalwart as president, completed the re-consolidation of conservative power in Iran's government.
These are facts that anyone can get off the Internet. Only other facts I know is that many people in Iran still are not happy with their present government and leave the country to go to other parts of the world.
