I'm just amazed at the way you can keep writing on and on and on with just a few letters to each word. My 22 year old son thinks when you're all in your fifties, this will be the new way to write. I'm so sad if this happens. What do all of you think? Pretty cool or do you feel once you grow up, you'll write correctly? Are the schools accepting this type of English? Please try and answer with words and not shorthand, it'll drive me nuts. Thanks!

It worries me too. My husband is a teacher and I know it isn't acceptable in his school. Let's hope more schools start jumping on it.

Haha, you know it's funny. I think the same thing often. On the net a lot of the little ones abbreviate as many words as they can. Most times I'm wondering if they're from some other country, but no, they're ours. I'm not a huge fan of typing either, but I'll be damned if I can't spell correctly or my grammar totally sucks.

As far as I'm concerned all the abbreviations are a sign of laziness or perhaps, they truly can't spell the simplest of words or have difficulties forming proper sentences or paragraphs, who knows? It's sad isn't it?

i think it's very sad and pathetic the way you just generalized millions, given that you are old enough to have a 22 year old son, i'd think you'd be a little wiser then that. yes, it is cool now days to be illiterate, i feel many do this, i'm 22 and i try and be all i can be though, please don't generalize.

I couldn't agree more. Literacy is extremely important. Kids don't read books like we used to do. I blame the schools.

Hopefully schools never accept text language, i use it in e-mails and text messages, the only places it should be used.
