the doctor i mean. i went to see it last nite, thought it was brilliant (highly recommend it) my friend said she thought the doctor died at the end whilst on the plane, i'm not sure

no, in the movie he is never shown dead.
i did not find any dr. nicholas when i searched on the president's real history.

no he doesn't. he survived to tell the story. it is a great movie. forest whitaker really hits the top with his acting.
