So many people have read the story about the 2 guys in Atlanta that got 10 years for cooking a puppy alive in an oven. Some details that you might not know: They were 17 & 19, not children. One of them had already been convicted of molesting a 3 y/o boy. One had been in a mental facility. They were in and out of correctional facilities. Knowing that, do you think the sentence was fair or was it an overkill?

Police reports say that these guys forced local children to look at the puppy and threatened to kill them if they told anybody. And they found scratch marks on the inside of the oven.

When I read this story, I assumed the guys were white because it sounded like Dahmer behavior. It wasn't until later that I saw an huge amount of people outraged that they were given 10 years, claiming that the sentence was racially motivated because they were black. I did not reveal this fact until now because I wanted to see what your opinion would be if race was not an issue. Obviously, it doesn't matter if you're black, white, asian or latino. The cruelty it took to commit this crime, previous behavior and potential progression to even worse acts were the key factors in deciding this sentence.

that's how Jeffrey Dahmer got started. They are idiots, and possible future serial killers. Molesting a 3 yr. old ? They all need to stay in jail, with Bubba !

Well I think its good although they should probably get more because they show many signs of doing something worse later on (Not that molesting a boy isn't bad enough). Correctional facilities I would think show clear signs that they are mentally unstable, not to mention staying in a place like that doesn't help you out either -it probably makes you even crazier. Maybe the 10 years will get them to change their views on life, hopefully, so they don't do anything stupid like that again. And if they do its very unfortunate indeed and they may end up doing something horrible; but since they haven't done it yet, it's lawfully kinda wrong to accuse them of it before it happens

They deserve to be given a 20 year jail sentence and made to take the walk to the electric chair every day, then be strapped in and made ready then made to watch as every day the computer selects a random date and time in the range 0 to 20 years for the execution. If the computer picks zero hour the execution is carried out by the computer if it picks another date the computer releases them to return to their cell until the next day!

If they survive the 20 years the computer executes 'em on the last day! mwahahahahah

Seriously tho' they should just get life no parole because they will always be a danger to little children!

In my opinion, it was an underkill. I can't imagine what horrific upbringings they must have had. Their parents should go to prison with them for producing these monsters.

It's a proven fact that the most mentally unstable usually start out torturing helpless animals before they move on to serial killing. I think they should be put away for life, and the keys thrown into a deep crevice before their next victim is a human child.

it was about right.

Animal cruelty is a felony in georgia, other states it is simply a misdemeanor.

Not to mention probably scarring the poor kids.

so 10 years, yep that sounds good. But if one was mental, well scratch that, cooking a puppy, im suprised either were found sane enough to stand trial.

i don't know about puppies, but i know if you killed a cat in ancient Egypt it was the Death Penalty! That's a Fact Jack!

also it is a psychiatric known fact that anybody that does such things to innocent animals is definitely a terroristic threat to the general public, cruelty to animals is always considered a predictor of cruelty to humans, many serial killers did cruel things to animals then moved on to people or children

I think who ever did such a thing should recieve the same ending because noone with that type of mentality should be near anyone or anything.but if you have religion they would be saved.no matter 10 years is to little for any human that commits a act like that.

I think the person who did such an act should be left as food for hungry dogs himself = 10 years is too long a life in this world for him!!!!!

Two guys have only civil liability to pay for lives of the puppies because it is destruction of property. 10 year penalty is too much considering their age that they must not mingled with hardend criminals inside the jail. Although they are recidivist, the penalty is too high not in accordance with penal code.

10 years is sufficient. You can't give them life for killing a dog no matter who saw it or how demented they may be
