i have been trying to get onto purple ronnie website since saturday, and they are updating it, i thought it would have been done by now? how long can it take?

Real-Time simple adjustments like changing text and adding information can be seen instantly. But if the website is completely down it is usually due to hardware failure or the have to reconfigure everything for a complete site makeover.

This sort of message is often used as a default error message.

Its much better than saying " we've messed up and our webmaster knows nothing"

There are very few reasons to take a website off-line. Generally speaking they can switch over to a completely new site in a second by putting up the new pages on the server and then just swapping the top most pages in one move.

How longs a piece of string....

Normally people develop the web site 'Off-line' then only upload the new files. This saves down-time. But errors etc....

it all depends on what they are doing to it, and how much time they are dedicating to doing it. only they can really answer your question.
