PREFACE: I am well aware that everyone is different and that the baby will come when he is ready. My question - for the mothers out there - is:
How long after you were 1 cm dilated did you go into labor?

I'm 39 weeks + 1 day

It seemed like forever but it was actually 2 weeks.

How many weeks pregnant are you? This will give you a better indication of when labour may or may not start.
Many women start to dialate weeks before they are even due.
With my 4th child I started to dialate at 35 weeks and didn't give birth until I was 41 weeks and 3 days. But with my last baby (6th) I was fully shut tight at my 37 week visit and gave birth 3 days later. Both deliveries were fine.

sorry to say but i also started to dilate around 36weeks i was 2Cm's but baby came almost a week late!!!
enjoy the time you have to relax now baby will be here before you know it x x x x

I was dialated at 1cm for two weeks your right it is a waiting game! good luck

Just remember what you get to say when the doc says you're at 10 centimeters:
"Dilated to meet you, kid!"
