I have been married 11 years (since I was 18) and have been a "house wife" for most of that time. I do not have enough income credits for retirement. I can not find our statements right now for the specifics. I am pretty sure that it said on my husbands statement that if I became disabled that I could recieve a check. Like I said, this was on his statement. Does that sound correct? I am worried about possibly having Psoriatic Arthritis. I worked as a seasonal worker but had to call off alot because I would wake up unable to even stand. If this gets worse am I just out of luck? Please help.

You need to have logged forty quarters (10 years) to be eligible for retirement benefits, but disability has some different criteria. They have all of the particulars at the Soc Security web site, as wellas an 800 number for specifics. Give them a call!

Do you live in the USA? I am NOT on my husband's and I have worked SOME (11 years) in the past 23 years since we got married. Now I work as a seasonal employee. I get statements every year in my name to let me know how much Social Secuirty I could draw now or (later at 62). I am on MY own record, not on his. My mother worked very little in her life and drew SSI for years, just enough to keep from starving, and when she was 62 she drew social security (not much more $). She had been divorced for decades though.

it would say the same thng on his statement as yours except the amounts would be different. you would only be able to draw what ever it said on yours but you could also draw on his after he is dead.
