Coz she's famous. It's like when Diana died, people seemed to forget she wasn't the only person in the car, but it's because everyone knows who she is.

People do die everyday, a lot of people die everyday. Anna Nicole is a celebrity in that her name and persona have been in the news and limelight a lot, partly due to her and her publicists efforts. As long as the news people can keep the buzz going and people can cash in on it, it will go on. Just wait, we will probably see a made for TV show, a book, maybe even a movie.

She's famous, and then only because she had big... personalities.

Then the hoopla is compounded by
(a) controversy - ie: drugs and other lifestyle factors;
(b) human interest - ie: "the poor baby who is now motherless"; and
(c) a combination of a+b - "the poor motherless baby" (human interest) who now doesn't even have a definite father (controversy). Humans by nature are nosy drama lovers.

A baby can lose it's drug addicted mother and not know who it's father is and there will be minimal hoopla, if the mother wasn't famous prior to death.

yes millions die everyday. luckily they do not have as tumultous a life as anna nicole smith's. not everyone is a shady celebrity like her,who was always in the news for wrong reasons. believe me, and that is what media wants.

I'm very angry about this. I guess it's a symptom of our superficial, ignorant, empty, and soulless populace. Adding insult to injury is the media coverage by our "news" organizations. For example, on the first day this non-news story broke, CNN opened one of their news hours about Smith's death. Six minutes after the hour, CNN got around to a real news story -- death and destruction in Iraq. This is a supreme example of where the mentalities and priorities of the American media and viewers reside. Pathetic and disgusting!

Because there is mystery behind it. Same as the OJ trial, every one was interested in that as well. News sells. As long as their name is kept alive in the media it is worth money to someone

I am with you Duluth.... She was just a cheap huzzy who died. She had no talent nor did anything great for humanity. It also saddens me to see respected news journalists chasing this story like some seedy lawyer chasing an ambulance.

(By the way, she SOUGHT fame, she was not famous as a by-product of her talents, skill, or humanitarian efforts, or anything of that sort. There is a difference in someone trying to make themselves famous for no reason other than they like attention, and being famous as a result of doing something great.)
