having low thyroid levels during pregnancy does occur sometimes and basically it's just because of your baby and the changes your body is going through. eltroxin or synthroid (another thyroid drug) are both very safe to use and are key to regulating your thyroid levels. having low thyroid during pregnancy that isn't treated can lead to some really horrible birth defects and so it's important to understand that even if it sucks getting tested and taking medicine, its worth it. usually women actually return to normal after pregnancy so i wouldnt worry too much. there isnt anything you can do to manage your thyroid levels without taking the supplement drugs. when a good dose is set for you then it'll be much more convenient for you hopefully

I believe your TSH is supposed to be below 2.0 when pregnant. I have to wonder why your doctor reduced your dosage when your TSH was a 9. Is he/she going to restest again in 6 weeks? The way you cope with the changes is to test TSH at the same time all the time and have dose adjusted to keep yur TSH below 2.0. It should be done first thing in the morning, as that's when TSH is at its highest point.
