My condolences for your loss.
Of course there is a risk of it happening again and I would be lying to you to say there isn't. But with the right treatment, particularly a diet rich in Folic Acid, the risk is greatly reduced.
Trust your doctors - they know what they're doing - and just relax as much as you can

I'm so sorry about your baby.
The stats say that a woman who has had one child with anencephaly has about a 3% chance of having another. The risk drops to around 1% (see, you're cutting the risk by a third!) if the mother takes 4mg/day of folic acid before/during pregnancy.
The risk can be reduced, but there are never any guarantees in parenting.

My mother had 2 healthy babies, lost one anencephalic baby, then had two more healthy babies! So don't panic, especially if you are taking folic acid.
Anencephaly is a severe neural tube defect and that is what folic acid reduces the chance of. It works best if you start taking it prior to pregnancy. I only took it once I was already pregnant and my two kids are fine.

My mother in law's first child was anacephalactic.
She had five more children after her (including my husband), and none of them were anacephalactic.
I suppose it could repeat, but the recurrece rate is only 4%. That means you have a 96% chance of NOT have a baby with anencephaly

I am so sorry to hear that. It's a bit hard to tell if it will happen again, only a doctor would be able to tell with the necessery tests.
