One's character is the outward appearance of one's thought patterns and thought habits. It is important to the individual because it will determine the general responses the individual receives from interaction with others. It is important to others who have to decide 'friend or foe' soon after encountering the individual. Integrity or deceit are choices of the moment, but accumulate as character.

As one ages, one's character can determine some facial wrinkles, making permanent habitual facial expressions.

Character defines a person, not only to themselves but to others. If you are of good character, then you will know the difference between doing the right thing and doing the wrong thing. You will be pure of heart (or at least try to be), and present yourself at your very best. Others see this as well as you, and therefore people make decisions about you based on this.

Character is different for everyone, and is something that develops and grows as a person learns about themselves, life and the place in which they live. I think this is one of the most stricking things about character, because outside and internal factors influence it, but only you decide what to do with the influences you are presented. Whether you like it or not, the decisions you make are for the world to see, in one way or another...so if you stay true to yourself and try to be the best person you can be...it shines within you, for you and helps build self esteem...and it shines to those who meet you.

Because your character is definitive of how you respond to life. If you have a weak character, difficult things in life wipe you out (just an example). It's important for you to answer this question, "does how you respond to life bring you happiness?" If the question is yes, then don't worry about your "character". Peoples' views on your character are subjective and don't necessarily reflect the truth about you. Discovering your truth is what's important.

I have in the last year come to a conclusion about life and us in it. Many people say it's this opportunity or who you know in life or luck that decides where you end up. I do not agree. i believe, The single most important thing in a persons life, that decides how there life will go is Character. A person's character is the most important factor that determines the out come in almost every area of life e.g.: Marriage: bad character, cheats on his wife, doesn't help out around the house, result divorce,, good character, stays true to his wife, helps her result successful marriage.. Work: good character,, studies after hours and works 8 good hours, learns, result: success and promotion,, bad character,, shirks works, doesn't gain knowledge result,, no promotion, others advance in front of you. Guy born poor: bad character, steals gets into drugs,, hobbles his mind, fails altogether in life,, good character,, guy toughs it out goes to trade school or even college,, work ethic established, life is a success. on and on it goes,, as I said, I Can think of no other factor singularly as important in determining a persons future as Character.

Ones character is what determines a compelling individual, out body is just a cover of a book, out character is the story within the book, if the story is good, people like it, otherwise, the book will remain in the dusty corners of a bookstore.

Our Character is what we are left with after all is said and done. It stands for all that is right and moral within you. The words spoken about you determine the type of person you are;.....your actions speak for themselves and therefore build the person that you are or have become.

It's not, unless it is important to you. Like for instance if you have a habit of losing your temper, you don't have to get help or try to make it better if it is not important to you, but if it is, then you should try to be a better person.Your character should not be important to anyone, but yourself.

One of the reasons is that, I think, people tend to judge or evaluate someone they know or work with from his/her character in addition to from knowledge, friendship, status, etc. In brief, one's character is the key towards success or failure regarding his/her own work or life.

“Character isn't inherited. One builds it daily by the way one thinks and acts, thought by thought, action by action. If one lets fear or hate or anger take possession of the mind, they become self-forged chains.

Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

Everyone tries to define this thing called Character. It's not hard. Character is doing what's right when nobody's looking.
