If you are having trouble swallowing, try dissolving two aspirin (non coated because its faster) in a half teaspoon of water and gargling and then spitting it out. The relief does not last long but it will give you enough time to ingest some liquid or food.

Yes gargling salt water and drinking lemon tea works. But if your sore throat lasts for 4+ days then see a doctor.

Sadly you'll just have to allow the sore throat to heal on it's own, but a good way to manage the pain is clove tea. Just put some cloves in a pot of boiling water (with cinnamon, mint, or whatever spices/herbs you want) and boil for about 10 minutes. Then strain and add some honey. The cloves help numb your throat, temporarily ridding the pain as you drink it. I do it all the time when I have sore throats and it works wonders! :)

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

I take in an overdose of vitamin C from citrus like lemon and oranges. Also, green tea has antioxidants that can help. White tea would probably have the most but it's more difficult to find.

Try Zinc Lozenges that you can buy at all health stores. Dissolve one or two and your throat will feel better but you won't be able to taste anything for a couple of hours.
