good question! one way to begin understanding this is to realize that Islam has more than one face -- the two largest sects being Sunnis and Shiites. theirs is a very old disagreement. the turmoil in iraq can be successfully discussed in this context. (the link to wikipedia is a useful source.)
now, you may ask, "so what"? well, both groups want more control, and terrorists acts are (relatively inexpensive) tactics.
one more thing: across history, when religion and politics get mixed together there has been great violence. why? religious beliefs run very deep, which leads to intolerance, suffering, deaths.

but how come u didn't note the following:
World War 1 and 2, american civil war, french revolution "were between christian countries", Hitler was christian, ITA is a christian organization, IRA is a christian organization, KKK is a christian organization , Marxism and communism was founded by christians, Fascism is a christian organization , Hagana is a jews organization, Zionist is a jews organization, Castro is christian, stalin and linin were chrestians "born and raise as christians at least so they have the christians morals,...etc. "BTW the list is never ending"
all of those organization and u didn't note the relation between christianity and terrorists??? u skipped all of those facts and only related some accedents started to happen after the fall of the USSR and related Islam to terrorism????

All these problems are created by outsiders to
keep the native people busy fighting among themselves to make it easy to steal their natural resources,it's not inky in the Middle east but all over the world,especially the poor

Terrorism is everywhere .it can not be related to Islam.Look to the terrorism acts by the USA and Israel which are State terrorism against Iraqis and Palestinians why no body says Christians and Jewish are terrorists? It is the Zionism and American media double standards.

i read the quran and there are many verses which can be misinterpreted...there are some fools which like blood sheding use these verses to pervert and brainwash some muslims(mainly the poor who often goes towards religion..
