I think it would help a lot as we could focus more on tactics and players getting to know each other rather than playing in pointless matches that are so boring to watch nowadays.

It couldnt be any worse than we already have. I would suggest they all train a bit harder. Back in the day, my Cousin married a guy who played for Southampton and then went on to play for United....he got up at 8.30, was on the training ground at 9.30, and back home feet up watching tele all day from 12.30. Oh they may of had to play a mid week game for 90 minutes and a weekend fixture for 90 minutes, but for the money, I wish I could only work 3 hours a day and 90 minutes at a weekend...what a life

Be it a friendly or training camp, it doesn't solve the English's notorious poor showing at international competitions.

I personally think friendlies are fine but the problem is to get the clubs to release their players. Perhaps stiffer penalties?

EPL players play the most number of games anywhere in Europe. Perhaps consider reducing these games. Go for a winter break, reduce the number of teams in the Premiership further. All these with the aim of optimising the performance of a player.

Then closer to a major competition, perhaps have these players in a boot camp.

The games would be better if the English players played with passion.A meaningless, passionless game is pointless to watch but the coaches should start saying to players that playing for their country is the ultimate accolade - get passionate or get out and move over for some-one who cares.

If players get used to playing a friendly it is hard to move up a level in competition. They should train (and play friendlies) as they intend to play in a WC final.

No.

Competition, even friendly competition, is the best place to test your skills.

You don't get the hit of top-level in practise sessions.. you have to compete. And for training camps you can easily delude yourself in to thinking your better than you are.... until comes a competitive match and you get slaughtered.

Graham Taylor.. or whoever it was who suggested this, is deluded. The last friendly against Spain wasn't boring... Spain annihilated England with sweet passes (on the floor) and cut us open repeatedly. England's style is "ramraid".. try to get a man free in space and fire a long ball in to his path. That style is what has to change in English football.. and start passing.

Yeah, probably, though they would want the training camps located in the Seychelles or some other exotic place. To focus more on actually winning, get to their most basic desire, money. They should only get paid if the win. See a swift response!
