One of the main reasons why India doesn't do well at the olympics is that there is very less investment from the Government in grooming the talent that is abumdamtly available in the country.
The reason to his is there are so many problems that are in the country which are more grave problems that they have to solve.
The other problem is that the Government is not providing enough incentives and is not developing infrastructure that is necessary in promoting the sports in villages and many others cities . They are not grooming the sports at the grass root level.
They are also not encouraging big private investors to develop the games by giving them tax benefits and rebates.
The sportspersons should also be given a decent amount pof a salsry so that they can sustain and help their families .
The sports like cricket and lately tennis are getting all the sponsership while the sports like athletics and ohers are ignored to a great extent.
The sprots will only get the required impetus if there is a strong resolve from the government that they will help develpo the sports in the country.

I think many of the answers so far indicate a lack of understanding of India. I am American but have many Indian friends and have visited only once. There would be no shortage of equipment and India has a very sophisticated university system though not available to all, so there should no lack of knowledge on training. Perhaps, India does not have a cultural committment to sports beyond soccer. I think India could become a strong competitor but not until the youth of India become interested in training, from a very early age, to be a dominate world athlete. Today, a talented youth is encouraged to excell in education and the sciences while sports is not seen as a worthwhile endeavor. Its a fabulous country and could be capable of about anything but people are inhibited by old values and are too sensitive to criticism. Sometimes too much respect for elders ends up creating a climate of slow growth because too much homage is paid to the past.

they do no longer focus plenty on the %. particularly do greater paintings to be a solid swing bowler. just about all the medium rapid are a solid swing bowlers. additionally fairly some the present quickest bowlers has somewhat detached action that indian bowlers is reluctant to apply. They paintings with the seam greater effectively. nonetheless there are lot of %. bowlers are upcoming with a number of strikes to be a swifter bowler. i've got faith in close to destiny india can produce one such bowler who can dominate the value, eg : Ishant, Yadhav, Dinda and Tyagi. I certainly have considered Tyagi bowling at one hundred forty five Kmph with a solid administration over the swing.

India doesn't have sophisticated training equipment alongwith good expertise. Politics has hindered sports a lot. If you ssee in China, almost all the cities have got good clubs and training centers and there is healthy competition in them.
Unless we start building more sports complexes and training centers we will be backing away more.

Their athletes just aren't as good as the rest of the world. Maybe if they were funded better by their government they may be able to improve.
