I know this sounds odd but my daughter was very quiet too, she got a job at Alton Towers (a theme park), she is so much more extrovert now, she was so scarred before she started, but it did her a power of good at discovering her own voice, alternatively why not something where listening is a very valuable trait like an old folks home or with little children? Good luck and remember the first step the most difficult, once you've taken it things become easier.

I'd suggest working as a desk clerk or receptionist, which requires answering phones, taking messages, etc. This totally contradicts you being quiet and wanting to keep to yourself, but it's pretty hard to be picky about what job you want if you have no experience..unless you know someone of course =). Im saying this because I'm like you-- im quiet, i'm a listener, i dont quickly jump into conversation with people. My first job was a front desk clerk at a small hotel. It looks good on a resume because it shows you have good communication and customer service skills..which is a big part of any job. If you seriously want a job that requires doing your own thing..I guess you could look for a job that requires stocking or taking inventory.

If your only 17 & looking for a quiet job, you won't find one, at your age, no experience, what could you possibly do for a job that's "quiet".....STUFF ENVELOPES AT HOME. look it up under your local newspaper or online. At your age, you will have no choice but to settle for a Customer Service job if you decide to work in the public. Try finishing High School first, get the diploma, go to college & get yourself a degree. Then maybe you can start thinking about a "quiet" job where no one will bother you.
