Well I'm not sure if this more of a psychological issue versus a sociological issue. However, if one is to focus in the realm of psychology, then so far it is not as harmful as some make it out to be.

With the advancement in science, genetic research has helped pinpoint various individual chromosomes that are the cause of many disorders that are psychological to begin with or are physical deformities that have psychological symptoms to them. For example, the advances made in understanding autism and/or schizophrenia have been numerous and this had led safer, more effective medications and/or different forms of therapy.

However, with the mind being such a fragile organ in the body, genetic research must not be taken as the end-all-problems approach. While many mental illnesses have seen some sort of advancement in knowing how the illness works, this has led to nothing but simply dealing with mental illness by prescribing a drug that has been developed with the knowledge genetic research has given. This may seem like a great concept, but in the end, drug therapy for the mind is dangerous and can lead to serious side-effects and complications not imagined because the mind is so fragile and unpredictable.

Sooner or later, time will tell if genetic research has helped in the realm of psychology. At the moment, it has done more good than harm.

No I do not think that it harms more than gives benefit . Scientists can solve many health conditions with genetic information. They are trying tp figure out which genetic mutation cause which kind of disease . So they will be able to cure diseases such as genetic cancer types and many others. Do not worry about cloning it is just a fantasy for now . It is a concept idea . Genetic research is not only for cloning the most important part of it humanity will be able to cure many diseases maybe after 30-50 years .This is good to hear . Assume that one of your best friends is ill and modern science can find a sollution for it now but gene technology will find a cure for it one year later . If your friend continues to live next year genetic medication may help him/her and you can see that your friend is happy and is not suffering any more.
Additionally scientists will be able to clone lost or damaged organs of a person if transplantation is needed . So you will be able to get a new kıdney for example but the kidney will not be different it will be same as your original first one .

I believe it is harmful, but mankind has not been around long enough to have historical data to back up this claim.

ADD is a term that is used a lot these days to explain a large group of behavioral problems. Why are these problems more common now?

I believe that the recreational drug use of our past relatives play a role in the way we process information, i.e. memory, etc.

Genetic Research has no track record, so only time will tell...

Yes damage has occurred on a large scale and a large scale recovery is necessary.Genetic engineering is our fate not our demise. We must shape our world because a fabricated world will decay.
