I think that is something Jung said, no? Correct me if I'm wrong (cos I admit that i AM likely to be wrong here..)
Personally I think its impossible. Although they sequenced all of the human genome, they never found any genes having memories encoded. This is impossible for the body to do, even thinking about it. I mean, do try thinking about it!! Imagine how your body would write down all your memories and pass them on to your children! At this rate, how come we do not have the same memories that our mothers/fathers do?
Memories are not simply "written" somewhere in the unconscious, that can be looked up as easily as looking up a book. Memories are a lot more complex and mysterious than that, and no-one even knows fully how they work...

I dont think thats possible with humans, but scientists suspect that that could be how it works in elephants as they can remember or know where places are even tho theyve never actually been there themselves. e.g. if there is a drought, the one elephant can lead all the others to a place where there is water, thousands of km away, where her ancestors have been but where she has never actually been herself.
Other animals may also have that.

Memory is not DNA encoded and the subconscious contains only that which is DNA or learnt in your life. However defence behaviour is in your genes and that's where stress etc comes from.

Unfortunately the cells which pass along genes are very frugal, and don't want to waste energy carrying unnecessary baggage. They only carry half of your genetic material, so they wouldn't bother about all the memories and thoughts, which are chemical reactions and substances in neurones.

Of course you can.We all can,it is in our Genes,it is how we survive, from generation to generation.
It is deep within us all but the sceptics choose to denie it.
Good for you,you are correct.

We don't inherit memories, memories are transitory, and die with us, they are not the same as instincts, that are passed on through the generations.
