They can't control them with a prescription nor do they understand them.

That's how they've been taught at university. They've been told that herbs is just a hocus-pocus. What they don't realise is that many wonderdrugs of today are made from these exact herbs. Also, the active ingredient in herbs may vary, for example there will be difference between one that's grown on a sunny slope of a mountain or at the bottom of it, where there's not much sunshine. In tablets the active ingredients are in all equal amount and equal strength. Of course, nowdays this is all synthetic, so not exactly made from the herbs anymore. If herbs were not effective, then why is it that so many of them are banned? Because they are bloody strong!

I don't think it's fair to say doctors as a group sneer at herbs. They're cautious though. The side effects listed with your drugs are known because they've been thoroughly tested, and there's a system in place to record them as they're discovered. There's no such system of testing for herbal remedies (except in Germany, I think) - so you don't know what you're taking. The fact that they're "natural" doesn't mean they're harmless.

herbs that actually do work follow the same laws and prinicples as regular drugs do. its just that most herbs dont work at all or are really weak so you dont notice side effects. if they were more potent theyd have as many if not more side effects than drugs (many drugs originated as herbs and scientists make modifications to make the active chemicals safer and/or more effective). most herbs they benefits are all in your head- which is great for minor stuff because it keeps people from being overmedicated but it really makes me mad when i see people on here promoting them for life threatening illnesses, especially when they can be treated with conventional medicine because most herbs in fact do absolutely nothing pharmacologically. they may make you better through the placebo effect though. and many of the herbs that have been traditional used were patented and are now prescription drugs, which naturalists sneer at.

Yes - I swear by Kava Kava to help with PMS mood swings and general life related stress. You cant buy it in Europe because there there are unconfirmed fears that it could lead to liver damage but you can still get it in the States so I buy in bulk when I go there.
Aspirin was originally synthesised from willow bark and the valerian root is a base for valium
Doctors will want to practise in an evidence based way so unless longditudinal clinical trials are done on plants/herbs they probably wont change their opinions.

My doctor (Mayo Clinic Scottsdale Arizona) always tries to put me on modern drugs because this is what he was taught and it becomes habit. Plus some people would not go to him if he recommended natural products. But when I ask him about certain natural products he just smiles and says "that will work". lol

The best all around natural products that have impressed me is the bee products mainly bee royal jelly and bee pollen. These products have been around for centuries and have been used by many famous people. England's Royal Family is probably the most famous users of bee royal jelly. It has been used by Pharaohs and is even mentioned in the Bible.

I would highly recommend a "high end" company like beeroyalproducts.com to purchase from because most of the discount place "cut" their royal jelly with water to remain profitable.

Hello,

(ANS) YES! I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis & Proctitis back in 2000 and the doctors had nothing in the way of treatment to offer apart from steroids or anti inflammatory (which DONT work & have side effects). Proctitis is a very distressing condition, anyway eventually I cured myself through a combination of a detox fast of 14days (juice fasting) a change of diet to a 100% gluten free diet and chinese traditional medicine.

**I now have huge respect for TCM becuase it treates the whole person NOT just the most obvious symptoms.

**The chinese herbs I was given are called Run Chang Wan I had to take these daily for about 3 months before being given the same remedy in pill form for another 3months. However, I am now healed and have a normal life back once again. I will never take my health for granted ever again after such a serious condition.

**Chinese medicine is literally light years ahead of western allopathic medicine when it comes to treating a condition like colitis, ulcerative colitis, or proctitis. I wouldnt have any hesitation in highly recommending traditional chinese medicine to anyone, especially if western medicine has failed to help you.

**TCM has been in exsistence for well over 2500 years.

**TCM here in the UK seems to be of a high quality & most TCM practitioners have to be trained in both western medicine & traditional chinese approaches.

**The only difference is that you do have to pay in TCM.

Best Regards IR

In my experience most doctors, as you say, sneer at herbal remedies, though they are completely natural and have been used sucessfully for centuries. My own doctor laughs at me, when i go in for a diagnosis, but always refuse the drugs he offers, prefering the natural approach! You have to remember that doctors are paid by pharmaceutical companies to use their products, and we are the guinea pigs. Also a lot of doctors no little about natural remedies.I hope this will change in the future, but doubt it, as it such big business.Personally i have used herbal/natural remedies for over 20 years, on myself, children and family and friends, for all manor of ailments.Ive never had an adverse reaction and we are all in excellent health.I wont even take a paracetamol! There are just too many side effects and the products arent at all natural.

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that sits low on the front of the neck. Your thyroid lies below your Adam’s apple, along the front of the windpipe. The thyroid has two side lobes, connected by a bridge (isthmus) in the middle. When the thyroid is its normal size, you’re unlikely to be able to feel it.
All types of hyperthyroidism are due to overproduction of thyroid hormones, but the condition can develop in several ways.
Thyroid hormone production can be suppressed or halted completely in these ways: https://tr.im/qD8qW

Doctors frown on herbal remedies because it is taking money out of their pockets because people who go natural don't go to the doctor nearly as much. I use herbal remedies and I have saved a lot of money and have better health because of it. Natural is best!
