Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Scan the PC with a standard antivirus. I think that you have to download a standard antivirus software. . I have come across a website that gives a brief study on computer viruses and their removal. It is very useful.I recommend that you go through this study and download a free software or a better software by making a payment. Please visit

You also try to select and install a suitable anti spy ware from the following link to protect the Pc against spyware attacks.

(1) Get you self a good antivirus or a free one if your present anti virus is not protecting you .
(2) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot do that now .Update it and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode
(3a) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .

I've used Norton and McAfee which aren't free. I've also used AVG and Avast. I believe Avast is the best, the free Home Edition is more than satisfactory. A tech aquaintance recommended it to me and after using it, I realized it caught viruses that AVG didn't without the cost of the pay ones.
