I am an American. I am a conservative and support our troupes in Iraq.

Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
known as Ceylon before 1972. It is an island nation in South Asia

It is off the southern coast of India.

During World War II Sri Lanka served as an important base for Allied forces to fight the Japanese.
I'm not certain but I think their soldiers helped win the war.

Sri Lanka is progressing and has a modern industrial economy.

Tea comes to my mind when I think of your country.

My husband and I have watched many documentaries on Sri Lanka.

I wish peace for your country and wish you to be safe.

Didn't you used to be Ceylon? Doesn't Arthur C. Clarke live there?
Edit - thank you, I'm a big Clarke fan and some of his books are set in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is well know for sapphires, and yes, other geographical digs. I've met other people from there. I hope you were not affected by the tsunami Dec. 24th. It seems like it would be a fun place to visit.

I heard a lot about Sri Lanka through the news of the unfortunate fightings there. Lots of innocent people are being killed.

Yes, Me. I was really good at Geography in School but now I can't even remember the Capital City. I think it begins with an S but am not for sure. (EDIT) Damn I'm going to hell now. I Missed Capital by a long shot.

I did hear about sri lanka, and i also heard that it is also called "the Paradise" ..but what i didn't know is that u are from sri lanka...

It's that island off the coast of Africa. Had it's name changed a bunch of times: Ceylon, Madagascar, and something else I can't remember.

i love the Sri Lankans... you always manage to kick our asses at cricket (South Africa)... i hate the sport and when you win people are put off...so i dont have to watch more, lol
