Republican and we were there so he could get him some ammo. They were out of the stuff he wanted and the clerk said that because of the "Patriot Act" the store could not ship the ammo anymore from one store to another or directly to his house, that he would he wait several weeks for a new shipment or drive to the next closest store that had it. He turned beat red because this is Bush's Patriot Act. He is always complaining about Democrats taking away his guns rights. Is this true, is the Patriot Act in affect and does it infringe on his 2nd amendment rights?

Oh ya, and I will never let him live this one down.

pilotB,
Nope the clerk at the store clearly stated that this is a new law and that it was due to the initiation if the Patriot Act. Can't blame this one on those pesky Democrats.

The patriot and military act both infringe on many rights that we did have before. Some of them are downright dangerous. I think the worst is the suspension of the writ of habias corpus, the right to due process. That one is horible, as they can come into your house and take you away to prison without benefit of a lawyer.

That sounds about right. I seriously hope that *whoever* becomes president next, be they Republican or Democrat, they repeal the Patriot Act. It's downright unAmerican.

I don't think it was the "Patriot Act" - it MAY (i stress may) have been legislation in the assualt weapons ban (Clinton era legislation) limiting shipment of ammo, clip capacities, flash supressors, semi-automatics, etc. -- and possibly now insurance considerations, store liability policy, etc.

I don't think the Patriot Act

my cold dead hands etc etc...
