He is said to be the most powerful man in the World, but is he? Or is he hamstrung by The Senate, Congress, Big Business, Public Opinion
or even The Mafia?
And if he ignores them and does his own thing will he be likely to get 'Whacked' like the Kennedy Brothers?
I would really like to know.....

He has the Ultimate Power to destroy the world many times over. He has access to 11,500 nuclear warheads. He hasn't been hamstrung yet by Congress because he has circumvented laws by Executive Order. As for the mafia, they have no influence anymore. As for Big Business, that can be answered in two words: ENRON & Hallibuton. And last, public opinion? How about a job approval rating of 33%, and 71% who disapproves of his leadership abilities in Iraq. He's GOT the power, believe me! But we will renounce his throne in November, 2008, and King George will be nevermore.

Nothing like ending the world or launching nuclear missiles,
US president though is very power ful man,
but also his actions are controlled by his own ethical and logical process,
also senates and other goverment bodies regulate overall governmental process,
whats use of democracy if only one is the most powerful person.

In such case when Mr President go cuckoo banana and order to launch Nuke bombs, Senate will prevent it and deffence will not follow the orders blindly................

Technically US Presidents can also be ticketed for Over speeding ,, So HA HA

Like some rightly point out, the president has his finger on that war button. The real question is, who has there fingers on the keypad that controls the president?
Cheyney, daady bush, and all the other rich banking families and other corporate monsters that have the purse strings. go to forbes dot com and look at the biggest banking firms, then look into who runs/owns them. Then you will know some of the names of the button pushers.

I believe he can click his fingers & get anything he wants.
He may even avoid being answerable for his actions?
dunno.
I think he feels he has to follow business leaders (who want to protect profits) & that he might not know how to deliver happier / healthier / fairer deals to the people (cos that conflicts with the capitalists).
I also think he risks getting "whacked" from lots of different groups, whether he changes his (arrogant) tune or not - even Peace-loving, non-violent believers who desperately want to end the mis-use of power.

Right NOW, the man has FAR TOO MUCH power. Still, - even, as Governor of TEXAS, - he had the power of LIFE or DEATH! He ordered the EXECUTIONS, of more than FIVE HUNDRED people, in that period!
