I think I may be pregnant and I would like your opinion...

Last time I had my period was new years weekend 12/29-1/1
Last time I had sex was a month ago from yesterday.
I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative, but a friend said the hormones just may not be strong enough yet if i am.
I'm almost 2 weeks late and im always to the day.
Im not stressed, so stressed wont cause the period to be late because im not worried if i am, i would be happy. Also my new job doesnt start til March so i've been on a few weeks of Vacation (no stress)
I cant see a doctor until i'm almost positive (no job, no insurance right now)
Sex was with a condon, I am not on birth control

Any opinions? suggestions?

Mmm, could be a lot of things. I am a midwife, have worked for the last 8 years in an IVF clinic and have 6 kids aged between 3 and 20 - this enough experience as a mother??? lol

If the last time you had sex was a month ago then if you conceived it would be well and truly evident by now. The levels of hCG in a normal pregnancy would be high enough to show up in even an average quality home pregnancy test.

How many home pregnancy tests have you taken? If it's just the one then it's possible it could have been a dud test, or past its use by date, or you actually over saturated the testing stick.

In this case, I'd go to the pharmacy or supermarket and buy TWO of the very best tests you can afford (digital if you can afford or obtain, like Clear Blue). Using your first urine of the morning, take one of the tests. If the test yields a negative result, wait 48 hours hours and then repeat the test. If the second is also negative then you could probably safely assume you are not pregnant, and the absense of your period is because of something else.

However, if you miss your period again, it may be worthwhile visiting a doctor and getting a blood test. Insurance or no insurance, it's best to know what you're up against.

Depending on how old you are, a missed period could be down to a number of things other than pregnancy.

i would wait another couple of days.. and then take another test.. planned parenthood charges you for anything you have to do there unless you have insurance than its free cause they pay for it.. i don't think you are pregnant sometimes you are late for a period no matter how many times you got it on time.. mine was late for 2 months once and the doctor told me i wasn't pregnant.. i wouldn't worry over this.. the condom could have broke though.. so i would get another test in the next couple of days..
