Im tired of answering questions like this

Barry Bonds has not yet tested positive for steroids, so nobody even knows if he took them

Even IF he took them in the 90's, it wasnt illegal back then, so McGuire should also be in the Hall of Fame

Steroids or not, 755 homers is an incredible mark. I will be voting yes when bonds gets on the ballot.

The only reason he is bigger now than he was in the 80s is because in the 80s he was like in his 20's. he was scrawny, not quite the homerrun king he will become. 20 years of working out with 2 major league teams (Pirates 1986-1993, Giants 1993-Present) will change your body alot.

I am sick of people saying that he doesnt deserve the record or the hall of fame. He hasnt tested positive yet, and most people steroids or not will probably never even come close to 755 homers.

Bonds has no reason to be kicked out of the MLB. The perjury charge has been blown way out of proportion. LET IT GO ALREADY. At the most, suspend him for like a week or two. Dont kick him out.

Barry Bonds should be kicked out of baseball, yes, but he will not.
For those of you still defending Barry Bonds, I will make it very clear that not only has he cheated, he has silently acknowledged that he did it intentionally.
Does anyone remember the "Book of Shadows" lawsuit specifically? Bonds and his lawyer were NOT challenging the validitiy of the sworn statement that he took steroids to a closed jury, nor was he suing for libel/perjury. Instead, he brought forth a lawsuit for the authors illegally gaining the evidence. Just take a moment for that to soak in, if you still believe Bonds is innocent in this deal.
Secondly, his stats are a dead giveaway. I think it stands for itself that normal athletes slow down with age. It is nearly impossible for someone in their thirties to gain power they never had in their twenties. In the 15 seasons before his 73 in 2001, he averaged just under 33 homeruns, never breaking 50. Sound a little strange? That's not even breaking the ice. Consider this, the most incriminating evidence. In those 15 years, he was getting a homerun approximately every 15 at-bats. In the next five years that number miraculously shrunk to approximately every 8 at-bats, almost unheard of (btw, he never broke 50 again after the 73). Then last year, back off the steroids, apparently, he once again averaged a homerun every 14 at-bats. Strange, no?
Anyway, yes, he should be kicked out of the league, or at least have an asterisk next to his name, but Selig won't do that.
The most we can hope for now is a player named Pujols to be what Bonds never was - a clean, great slugger (who's also respectable to the media).

Sorry if that was a little long-winded, but I'm annoyed with all the people out there who still think Bonds is innocent

well not get kicked out that would make him kind of a marter i think that bonds is probably the worst part of baseball right now has put such a bad light on it for everyone. if he does break the record it will be a shame he doesn't sign autographs he doesn't appear in any video games he is the most selfish player in history as far as getting his. as soon as he gets close to the record i wouldn't give him the satisfaction of getting on base the easy way i would just bean him every time he stepped into the box i think he isn't ever gonna get into trouble for the drugs but instead the money laundering and the embezzlement. he had his cousin selling fake autographed stuff of his and moving the money back through him and taking a cut he didn't even sign the stuff. bonds is a complete jerk and a bad icon for baseball you either love him or you hate him i think the records should stay cause who knows who else was on roids probably everyone but that's not the point they have not done all the other low things he has just put a huge * next to all his records
and that's the truth

I agree with you the guy did get huge compared to his size in the 80's. I also think that even if Barry never touched steroids and he was the same size today that he was in the 80's he would still be going for the home run record. just because the guy gained
15lbs. in muscle that doesn't take away his incredible natural talent to hit home runs. I'm a dodgers fan and I hate Bonds but you have to admit the guy can hit a baseball.

Bonds will set the record, he is already talking about wanting to play this year and next. As far as getting kicked out before he can do so, MLB has no leg to stand on, because they do not have proof that he took steroids, everything is just speculation and even if he were to test positive now, he would only get a 10 game suspension, those are the rules and if they were to change them just this one time to protect the record, MLB would have a huge lawsuit on there hands for wrongful dismissal.

Maybe he should and maybe he shouldn't, but the fact of the matter is that he won't.

He would need to have three positive tests for steroids before he could be banned from the game for life. The current penalites for a positive substance abuse test are as follows:

1st Offense - 50 game suspension
2nd Offense - 100 game suspension
3rd Offense - Banned for Life

Currently there is no concrete evidence to prove that Bonds has ever knowingly used any form of steroid. Is he a million times bigger than he used to be, yes. Is that enough to convict him, no. All athletes are bigger now than they were in the '80s. People get larger as they get older, maybe not THAT large, but large nonetheless.

I realize that the majority of the speculative evidence points directly at Bonds as an obvious steroid user, but until he fails an actual test for steroids there is nothing MLB can do to him and no chance of him being banned.

Also, simply to play devil's advocate...there is nothing to say that the players of yesteryear weren't using some sort of performance enhancers of their own. I realize steroids--in their current form--didn't really hit the scene until the '80s, but there have been plenty of other options for players to get ahead since day one. (ie: greenies)

Sorry to be so long-winded, but I assume you wanted a good, well-thought answer since you took the time to ask a question. I hope this answered your question.

Edit: Also to "fastfreedombailbonds" Hank Aaron isn't Bonds' godfather, Willie Mays is his godfather.

No he shouldn't, Bud Selig allowed this to happen on his watch and he deserves to go down as the most usless commisioner that baseball has ever had. If Selig had the balls he would of taken care of this mess before it got out of hand. But he and his owner buddies were enjoying the rebirth of Baseball revenue too much. If Barry goes so too should Bud.

I think all this is stupid, if Bonds was a nice media friendly player then everyone would be rooting for him. But because he is a jerk everyone attacks his weak points. Baseball is Baseball, there has been pine tar, skuffing balls, throwing of games and cheating through out all of the game. Thats Baseball, take it or leave it.

He has never tested positive for steroids,so you must say he has worked out like crazy.I went from 175 to 212 when I went heavy on weights and protein sups.Being big doesn't prove anything, and I'm not naive about it nor am I a sycophant.
