Don't you think that he would have replaced Cheney with a Vice President who might be elected in '08? I think he knew, before the last Presidential elections, that Iraq was going to keep ANY Republican candidate from winning in '08. Or am I giving Bush too much credit for having foresight?

C'mon JR. Politics are politics and Bush is a politician.
The rest of you still underestimate Bush. He did win the Presidency twice.

The party politics that I've seen in my life, require a sitting President to pick a Vice President that has a chance to keep the Presidency in party hands. The President is the leader of his party. It's his job to consider these things.

In my opinion, Bush knew that Iraq was going nowhere, but down, before the last elections. He lied his way into a reelection, by telling everyone "stay the course".

Oh no, you are right about Bush knowing he and his illegal cabal are finished. But they have a new man in the opposite corner to install as the new Illuminated Democratic puppet . They are learning slowly but surely. Plus they have learned how to put allot of us to sleep. The devil in disguise.

Without Cheney at his side, telling him what to do, Bush would run out of the White House as fast as he could. He has such a command of his subject that he said," most of our imports come from outside the country." But, they are there for plunder, and plunder they have hauling $12 billion a month out of the US Treasury for their war making, while burying this nation in debt. They don't care about the country, their party or who will be the next President.

It depends how you define knowledge or whether you believe he has clairvoyance but I would say no. If you mean to ask something like "did Bush believe the Republicans would lose" I would also say no, you're giving him too much foresight. The evidence of not replacing Cheney is circumstantial.

I am guessing his stubborn insistence on having his war, his way is taking him and the GOP over a waterfall. Don't give Bush credit for insight. I don't believe he possesses any. The midterms were a referendum on Mr Bush and his war. Most Americans find both not to their liking.

Too much credit
He is not interested in the party any longer, he'll never run for elected office again, also who would elect a VP from a largely unpopular administration? The war has won everybody down in a society that values sitcoms and every thing being resolved in "24"

After all the mess that he had made, you think he will win '08 presidency? Never mind the war that he had created, he had sent his own men to death. And thats is unacceptable.

Far to much credit for having a brain, Karl Rove may have come up with that though. I don't think personally he knows his right shoe from his left and has to be reminded by Rove daily which is what.

Bush picked who he thought was the best man for the job. Only the Democrats worry about 4 years from now and hoping to still be in office.
