The child is 18 yr with special needs. (downs syndrome) Is she of legal age to now come and go between parents as she pleases? Do the custody rules still apply after age 18?.

The answers I'm getting are mostly responding to my wording (demand) and are not feeling my pain from the underhanded use of the system that broke us apart. I have to demand my God given right. The X is without heart.

Usually as an adult, the child can come and go as they want, to see parents. However, due to the fact of the special needs matter with the child, I request that you please contact an attorney on this question. You will need to let that attorney know the state the other parent is living in-and see if they know the laws there concerning this-and if not, can they please research it-or shoud/could you? I wish you the best. Take care..

They shouldn't, but the special needs thing is touchy...it all has to be done through the court, and unless you are a judge, you can't DEMAND squat...but you can petition the court to ALLOW and GRANT you the due time with the child that you feel is long awaited or owed to you.

You move close to her. Why does she have to waste her time traveling? You are the responsible one, be responsible. Why do you think anyone should listen to your DEMAND's? If you want something, you make it happen.
