they need a play maker at WR, i hope they get Ted Ginn Jr. with there 7th overall pick. Calvin Johnson would be better though. I think the rookie QB is going to be the guy, so it's going to be messy no matter what.

I live up in Fargo, N.D., but we are so close to the Twin Cities that I can speak with some knowledge about the Vikes.
Where do I start? The Vikings need a new quarterback. QB is probably the biggest question mark for the Purple 'n Gold right now.
Brad Johnson's pretty much washed up if you ask me. He stands like a statue back in the pocket, looks around to pass, and then gets sacked rather routinely. He doesn't scramble around much.
The Vikings had a pretty good defense this past season; but when you have an offense that has trouble scoring from inside the 20 yard line, it's going to be a long season.
The Vikings new owner Zygi Wilf wants to win in the worst way. His big focus right now is to secure funding for a new stadium in downtown Minneapolis for the Vikings to replace the Metrodome. So far he's gotten a rather chilly reception with Minnesota legislators on that subject.
As far as head coach Brad Childress goes. He had a pretty shaky rookie season. A strong start and then the Vikings simply blew it and fell out of playoff contention. My guess is Childress gets one more season to turn things around or Wilf will cut him loose at the end of this coming season. I don't think Wilf will sit around and settle for mediocrity for much longer.
As they say, stay tuned.

Besides having a poor QB/WR combo, the Vikings problems at this point, could stem from having a porous secondary. Before Steven Jackson (of the Rams) gashed the Vikes run defense for 160+ yds in week 17, their seemingly stout rushing defense #'s were skewed to say the least. Teams overloaded with more wideouts to exploit their CB's and things only got worse when Fred Smoot was IR'd with a broken jaw.
On the bright side, Chester Taylor proved that he can be a very effective RB when given the opportunity.

Theyre going to struggle as usual.
This past year they got pretty lucky with how well their team played. Caught a few breaks, including a some-what easy schedule.
Their offense should be their main concern. With Brad Johnson being from the jurassic era, hes getting older and older as the days past. I'm just waiting for a LB to blindside him and watch him turn to dust. The Vikings need to draft a QB this upcoming draft to be successful in the next few yrs. Look for them to make a push at Troy Smith or Brady Quinn.

Their offense is horrible. Who is their feature back? Chester Taylor is not a great back. Which receiver is good? None of them had a great season. Brad Johnson or Tavarious Jackson at QB? One is almost 40 and the other is too young and raw to be a starter.
The Bears will be very good next year, the Packers are on the rise and even the Lions look to be better (I said better, not good) next year. So the Vikes face tough competition in their own division next year. Their defense is good but their offense is going to stink.

They appear to be weak on offense. The one good thing they have going for them is Taylor at RB and Hutchinson on the left side of the line. Other than that everything else is a question mark. The defense was improved last year even without their first round pick (chad greenway) so they should still improve.

Well, the loss of Mike Tomlin is a down, as he gave them a terrific defense. Also, Tarvaris Jackson did ok, in his 3-4 starts, but his play wasn't great, so they may need to sign a veteran to give him a helping hand. they have Chester Taylor at RB, and he is consistent with yardage, so as long as he stays healthy, they're fine there. They seem to be ok, for themost part everywhere else.

QB is the biggest question mark. Next would be WR, they have no one that strikes any fear into opposing Ds. Also their pass D is pretty bad. I know you'll say 'but their run D was the best in the league'. That stat is misleading since their pass D was so awful why should their opponents run the ball?

The fact they'll have to play the Packers twice. Swept last season by the Pack I believe.
Oh yeah, and there's no talent on the team. Chester is a barely above average back, no stars at QB or WR, and a defense that shows up to half its games.
