I think you should finish reading it and make your own opinion. It is all right if it differs from other people's. As a matter of fact, it's quite recommendable(originality-wise). As for me, I liked the book. It's to the point and it's short so there's no reason why you shouldn't finish it. I hope you enjoy it.

Many people would want to make you believe that they are better than Sun Tzu, so all these "overrated" comes up.
Read through all of it and rate it, because, for you, its your rating that counts.
I dont think there are many people who are worthy of rating a book that is still studied after almost two and a half millennia

I don't think so since, as far as I know from its fame, it has long been studied as a crucial academic text in military academies in Russia, Germany, Japan, etc. Moreover, it is translated into innumerable foreign languages for lay readers, scholars, students, soldiers, politicians, business gurus, etc. to explore and adapt some practical strategies to particular field/trade even in the world of globalization and the Internet nowadays. Just imagine how Sun Tzu could think and wrote so brilliantly at the dawn of human civilization.

overrated? no hardly. but why do you depend on what someone else has to say about it in order to make your judgement?
centuries of military leaders have sworn by it.
also read the book of five rings. written by a sumerai, veteran of many death duels. dropped out and thought about it for twenty years then wrote the book and taught fencing for the rest of his life. like the art of war you will find this in either the military section ...... or the business section.

Those who told you this book was over-rated must have VERY strict policies concerning books. The Art of War was, after all, written over 2100 years ago and is still used today.

who ever told you it was over rated either didn't get it or can't get it. Many of the most successful people in the business world swear by it. the great thing about that book is that its not jsut about war, its about conflict, and we have conflict every day.
