My belief is that if it does nobody else wrong, it should be legal. From what I can gather, the conservatives like to outlaw things they object to, regardless of if it affects somebody else’s rights.

A good example is motorcycle helmet laws. Since when does my choosing not to wear a helmet affect your ability to lead a productive life?

Another good example is sodomy laws. Since when does some guy liking sex a little different (ok, a lot different...) affect your ability to find work?

Is my ideology 'wrong'? Why?

Best answer gets 10 points. (snicker)

Conservatives like calling anyone who do not subscribe to their way of thinking as "Liberals." Just like during the fifties, if anyone disagreed with someone's way of thinking, they were condemned as "Communists."

Labels are meant to put people down, as a means of demeaning them because they do not agree with another person's theology.

However, when you analyze the ordinary definitions of words, Liberal means generous; Conservative means stingy.

Concerning passing laws that have no victims: it is a control issue.

The sodomy laws are obviously religiously-based; forcing people to abide by the mores of the majority religion in this country, Protestant. However, the same people promulgating these laws, commit these acts themselves (Hi Mr. Foley!).

The motorcycle helmet law is based upon a study that head injuries may be mitigated by the use of a helmet. The government does not care about the rider's safety per se; the government worries about increased hospital costs from treating someone who does not use a helmet. Yet again, our illustrious governor, Mr. Schwarzenegger, not only does not wear a helmet; he does not even have a motorcycle license.

Maybe it's time for the Conservatives to stop putting other groups down, and start cleaning their own house...

That's pretty much it. Many conservatives have a very black-and-white view of things (by no means all conservatives, but certainly the ones who screech against the liberals here on Y!A). In their mind, there is right and there is wrong. They think Christianity is *right* and so should be allowed if not mandated in our schools and courts. They think homosexuality is *wrong* and thus we have to pass bans against homosexual marriage. While they claim that the liberals are the ones who want to "control" everyone, the only thing the liberals tend to "force" on people is the idea that their tax money should perhaps be spent differently and laws that require people treat each other fairly.

Anyway, in that "right and wrong" world, the conservatives must be right so the liberals must be wrong--and that must be *changed.*

Or so you'd think by reading notes calling us lieberals and accusing us of treason. As if that would win a single convert to conservatism.

I think your problem is going to be that you are trying to reason with a horde of professional trolls who are paid to be unreasonable. Seriously....they pretty much owned the old Yahoo News Message Boards and now that those are gone they are looking to spew their bile here (never mind that there are kids here...oh no, they still have to spew).

But yeah....you are going to find a lot of people here posting in that vein from a very *few* work computers I bet. As in, they will be working for some companies (possibly Yahoo itself among them) *just for* the purpose of getting on the internet and ranting and raving and trying to bluster other more polite people into silence....or, conversely, they will just *report* anyone who dares to stoop to their level (and since they themselves violate Yahoo Answers's TOS by having multiple profiles where honest posters don't, guess what? Yahoo goes after the easy targets--and not the ones on the payroll like your Ednas and your botnets).

Personally I blame your Fox News, Rupert Murdoch inspired "media mavens" for all this, they made it "correct" back in the days of Reagan and the *first, legitimate Bush* to relentlessly bash and slander and libel the whole entire *half* of the nation that dares to disagree with them....and for the past 26 years, the rest of us have done nothing but *put up with it* it seems, if policy in America is any indication at all. A whole lot of us just sort of rolled over and *died* for these people. We encouraged them, enabled them....and now they think this sort of slanderous, libelous behavior is their *birthright* or something.

I don't see why you're bothering. :) Aside from trying to have a battle of wits with the hopelessly unarmed, chances are you and I both will draw a completely *unmerited* Violation from the Almighty Yahoo Answers Thought Police just for daring to speak a truth that the CEOs and all their pampered little Rich Girls On Their Ponies don't want to hear. So to speak.

Still....just know that if you do find a paid-for trolling drooler on here, and if for some reason he's a challenge (ha! I doubt that will happen), know I have your back. ^_^

Thanks for your time, and Happy Hunting!

All it is is a bunch of people who go hey, who can we tick off today. So they post something that is a very sweeping generalization for us to comment on and bash them, call them idiots and get us banned. It is a War you cannot win. I am a Democrat. So generally I disagree with Republican Ideals. Guess what. Last Presidential Election, I voted for Bush. Why?? I hated Kerry. My Mistake. I didn't inform myself as well as I should've. This year I am informing myself. You Know what. Someone will probably gripe me out saying my opinion sucks and bash me for it. I think it is absolutely childish. And NO your Ideaology is not wrong at all. They just want to misconstrue it.

Aren't liberals the ones who think that the common man cannot think for himself and needs government to do it for him? Sorry...that would be democrats. A lot of conservatives don't favor big government and want to keep America free. I think that the seatbelt and helmet laws are a little ludicrous.
