You may be better off financially in Pittsburgh (if it really is cheaper), but careerwise, Chicago is the better option. There are more job opportunities here in Chicago, both white collar and blue collar, than Pittsburgh. Chicago is a major base of operation for hundreds of Fortune 500 companies (Boeing, for example, ditched Seattle for Chicago as the choice for their corporate headquarters). So you save $200 on rent by living in Pittsburgh big deal. The fact remains: you're living in PITTSBURGH. Chicago has art, music, sports, theater, a lakefront (check out the hotties on the beach as you ride by on your bike on the bikepath),... but if you want to save 200 bucks, go right ahead.

Besides, Chicago isn't that expensive. And if you're making $50,000 a year, you can live pretty good here.

Only you can answer this question, but having lived in both cities I'd recommend Chicago. Pittsburgh certainly has it's positives, but be aware a lot of what you hear about the town is pure hype. It depends a lot on which corporations would be offering you those salaries as well. I say take a weekend to visit both cities and judge for yourself which option is the best fit for you.

in basic terms you may answer this question, yet having lived in the two cities i'd propose Chicago. Pittsburgh truly has that is positives, yet observe extremely some what you pay attention approximately city is organic hype. It relies upon plenty on which companies would be offering you those salaries besides. I say take a weekend to circulate to the two cities and decide for your self which determination is the final in wonderful condition for you.

Chicago. Nothing against Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh's a fine city and there's a lot to do, but Chicago isn't quite as expensive as you might think, has more nightlife, and the weather is similar.

If you are a nightlife type of person there is no debate. Chicago is the place and Wrigleyville Lincoln Park are not cheap so you may want to find another spot of town.

Financially you'll be better off in Pittsburgh. Chicago has a lot more to do and better transportation, though, so I'd pick it.
