It is an extension of why people make art, write books, etc... The human desire to be widely remembered (& revered) after they are dead is what drives them to desire fame.

there are two answers to this...first, they want fame in order to be recognised or heard of for various reasons, and somehow there are people that get special priviledges just by being famous...the second one is probably they want to use their popularity and fame for a good cause, or to branch out to different areas of interest so that people will take notice and pay attention to their growth or progress every step of the way...

I'm not quite sure who you are speaking of when you say "we". I know for myself money could never make me want to be in the spotlight and have my every move photograhed and scrutinized. Celebrities seem to be larger than life and perfect to children and teenagers. To adults we've been around a lot longer and have seen the taboos and scandals and know better.

i'd rather be wealthy than be famous. Famous people don't have lives cause their privacy is invaded all the time. Wealthy people, not so much.
