If you're not a muslim, yes. It is a record of Mohammed's supposedly inspired utterances.
For a muslim it is a transcript of an original preserved in heaven. A muslim has to believe in every dot and comma of it. A figurative belief is possible, but only if a literal belief is first accepted.
In a muslim country, a muslim will get into trouble for saying it is a historical document.

Sort of. It talks about some events which are historical, but also includes a lot of fable and allegory. In some places it's hard to distinguish which is which. This is especially vexing because those most able to understand the original text have a tendency to insist that *everything* is exact and incontrovertible fact.

No, just as the Bible is not a historical document. They are religious texts, basically novels, and nothing more.

Well technically yes. It tells of the time period in which Mohammad (Muslim prophet) supposedly visited and it tells a lot about what was going on during that time period.
