There is definetly something in there. Our bodys not just a machine or else we wouldn't feel emotions. Animals are made up of instict and they don't have souls. They just do as nature has assigned. Our bodies do as well but we also have conscience, ability to reason and analyze, and emotion. It's not just a machine, or at least that's my personal opinion.

I am not sure either way.
On the one hand, the fact that we have a free will, we can intend and give direction to our thoughts and actions, leads me to believe that our body is a tool being operated by some being that we are... could be called 'soul'.
On the other hand, it seems improbable that in this universe, there can be any existence that neither occupies space nor gets spent over a period of time... this leads me to the belief that even if there is any 'soul', it certainly ought to have an origin and an end which is not what we mean and understand by the soul.
Of course, one possibility is that our soul may be some advanced kind of energy that controls our physical body and has a much longer lifetime than the body, although it does die finally to merge into some greater pool from where it might have originally come.

I know we as humans all have a soul. Now there are some people that don't have a conscience that is that they don't understand right from wrong. I know of dogs that understand more than man or woman right from wrong. Not just a Pavlov's dog theory.
As a child I didn't believe in death. It took a lot of patience for my parents to get this across. But, even today, I rarely cry at funerals, because I just know that my parents, and grandparents, are in a happier place. Why? Because their physical pain is gone and the weight of sadness has been lifted.
Okay, I had a near death experience. But I don't like to talk about it. I will say, it was beautiful, I can't explain it, or try to re-enact it with deep meditation. I am a Christan, and one of the best Books you can read is the Bible. I find it relaxing, and educational.

There is a spirit in everything, an energy or force there because of it being matter in our dimension. Our soul is more profound as a result of our mind. Think of thoughts. Where do they go? According to Einstein(and Others) nothing disappears, no matter or energy is totally gone or removed or becomes nothing. Thoughts are a result of our biological processes emitting a form of energy therefore they exist and will continue .....maybe within a soul or what we call spirit. Where does it go..... what are dimensions, what are dreams, what is reality? Why do we think? What came or what was before the Big Bang? Think of absolute nothingness, you can't. Our mind cannot comprehend this much as a germ or bacteria contemplating us and our world. Maybe souls are the cells of that creation being made in His own image.
Don't take me too seriously - I'm just thinking.........:-)

The human body is infact a living machine that has the ability to heal itself if its not too major. As far as a soul, I have seen video tape where as people die something escapes the body that looks like a mist? but I cant say I know first hand.

Yes there is a soul ( atma - a fraction of Param atma ) in our bodies so long as we live. When the soul leaves, the body no longer remains even a machine as does the mind too, cease to exist.

Our scriptures says soul exist in every body and it is eternal. Body is temporary and is just machine like. Soul changes bodies through transmigration.

Yes, there is a soul, just as there is a God. But both are invisible.
It requires faith to believe in both. Your doubts are not unusual, but you should try to reassure yourself that both God in heaven, and the soul in your body are real, and they will still exist when the body has stopped functioning, and you are "dead." No doubt this is the oldest spiritual struggle in history. But it has come to a head in our time, because the end is very near. Dont lose heart, and you will be with God in your spirit forever.

Yes, I not only think it but this is rather my conviction. Soul is the life in a body and without it the body remains only a frame or structure. Can you think of a temple without God? Similarly you can't think of a living body without soul.
