They added that some weapons have been captured and they bore the hallmarks of having been manufactured in Iran…. Many were made as recently as last year—ruling out the possibility that they could have been left over from the many arms caches scattered across Iraq by Saddam Hussein’s regime.”

If you guessed the date, you win a Cupie doll. For some reason the geniuses at the Pentagon have failed to explain why the Iranians used a date from the Christian Gregorian calendar and not one from the Islamic Persian calendar. According to the Muslim calendar, the date stenciled on the mortar shells should read 1427, not 2006. And why did Iran, a country speaking and writing in Persian, a language written in a version of the Arabic script, decide to label their shells in English? Maybe they thought it would fool the infidels?
I’m not taking the bait. As usual, this attempt to frame Muslims stinks of neocon sloppiness. Once again, the neocons blow it. Not that it particularly matters, as most Americans are oblivious and, besides, millions of them still think Osama and Saddam are twin brothers.

Well done. You notice on these stories they never show the actual item with the id on it. We are to take their word for this. But, it also reminds me of an old joke in which the punch line was about a man who, hopelessly outmatched, uses the only trick he had to win and everyone was upset because he wasn't fighting fair. We sell weapons and technology to anyone and everyone, and so do all the arms dealers in the world. We show up on the battlefield with all the latest in goodies for our soldiers, and when the terrorists come up with a weapon to slow us down a bit, we cry foul. We think it is perfectly fair to have weapons like bunker busters, cluster bombs, depleted uranium, napalm, etc etc. Do we really believe that others will not get similar weapons in a fight to the death. They Will get them any way they can. If Florida was under attack and Georgia supplied them with weapons, who would be surprised? They are neighbors. Arabs are tribes spread across recently drawn and arbitrary borders, and to expect them to not assist each other across these imaginary lines is probably asking too much. It is BushOilCo who is in the wrong neighborhood. It is they who should leave.

Not that it means much but... what's to say that these so-called "hallmarks" aren't in a Persian symbol or that, for translation purposes, the date given us was a converted date, (from the Islamic Persian calendar to the Christian Gregorian)?
Why would they give "us" a Persian date over the news? The news is just short and to the point, (supposedly?)!

This rant just goes to show you have no idea what you are talking about. Just another "left field Lib" running around screaming the sky is falling. Maybe, just maybe, if you knew anything about weapon manufacturing or machining process, you'd know that English is the standard for most manufacturers. Yes, you will find that some countries ALSO add writing in their language to the weapons and ammunition, but machining process will be stamped in English!
