So many celebrities have so much done to there face, tummy tuck, breast implants, and so on. A lot of average people are doing it too. I feel one day I am gonna wake up to a world, where everyone has the perfect face, and body. And for people like me who have not had plastic surgery, are gonna feel like the ugly duckling next to them. Its kind of unfair, how do you compare with what is consider perfect? Not that I compete. People who really need it, like birth deformity, and burn victims, is understandable. But the percentage is growing every year. And now there is everything you could possibly think of, its crazy. Does anybody agree? I like to know what you think. Nothing is wrong with plastic surgery..to a degree.

I am 5' 5" (have been since the 6th grade) and have plenty of curves. I wouldn't say I'm fat, but I'm definitely not skinny! I look absolutely nothing like a model or celebrity! In my younger years, I tried so hard to compete with the "pretty, skinny" girls. But looking back, it was stupid. The typical pretty girl in high school usually isn't that pretty. (At least not at my school.) They just live up to what the immature males want.

Given that so many men are still immature and superficial, women are trying to fit their mold. Many women feel validated when men gawk at them, hit on them, and call the beautiful, regardless of the respect they're given. I think many women get plastic surgery to gain that validation.

On the other hand, some women get plastic surgery just to feel better about themselves to quiet their own insecurities.

I don't disagree with plastic surgery, but I think many women (especially in Hollywood) take it WAY too far. (Just look at Donatella Versace!)

I agree 100%. The only problem is, plastic surgery is probably going to get more popular. Because of television, movies, and the tabloid, people feel if they do not look like a celebrity, they are nothing. It is sad, because, celebrities are not perfect either. Most of the time, they are airbrushed for photo shoots. Maybe one reason people do it, is to keep up with the times. If you are less than perfect, people will look at you weird and critisize you. Really it is not about what you look like. Take Anna Nicole..after she lost weight, she looked pretty good. She had all of the money, she was famous..and she died. I wish people would realize that all of the plastic surgery in the world is not going to keep you alive.

I totally agree with you, why change the way you were made expecially just to make other people happy. We need to learn to love ourselves for who we are because I dought getting surgery done is going to help. I do understand the victims of burns or a birth defect or even just someone who had been in an accident getting it done. I for one don't plan on ever having it done but who knows I'm only 28 so mabey in 10 or so yrs I might change my mind.

I would have to say that it is due to the amount of insecurity of a person. The more insecure a person is about themselves the more they wish they could change. Celebrities tend to think that they have to be perfect by society's standards which are set by the wishes of those who can afford it. Society's standards have driven many women to alter their bodies to either cure their insecurity (usually caused by their own imangination) or to impress others around them.
You are right that plastic surgery is ok in some circumstances. However it is not a fix-all, cure-all solution.

I feel the same way, and I am not overly concerned with what I look like, I drop my son off at school wearing my pajamas since I know once I get back home I'm just going back to sleep again, lol. I see the models and wonder how old they look, but when I read about how old they really are, its amazing, they are older than I am, they must have a lot of money to pay that much just to look like they are young. It is really sad. I almost feel sorry for them, but then they do things like divorce each other, try to make a business, and then I'm like, they are using us as the public to make money.....it is horrible.

I would like to be thinner but I am not willing to get liposuction to do it. Just about everyone has a flaw or two that they would like to fix. Getting yourself surgically altered is a very big step and I feel that if it is not medically necessary one should not do it. I have seen many women who thought they looked ugly and underwent procedures and ended up looking worse than what they started with. But then again some people get minor things done and they look great and their self esteem soars. I guess it all depends on your morals and values.

i imagine the numerous element is to be your self and ignore what human beings attempt to do to themselves. the way you perceive your self is all in the body of ideas. i'm actually no length 6, notwithstanding when I positioned my heels on and strut down the line, i recognize I high-quality, and that i tell myself that all and diverse the time!! Your self assurance is what makes you alluring. purely because those celebrities are going lower than the knife and attempting to grow to be "perfect", keep in mind, they have purely as a lot subject matters as we do!! all of us won't be able to be perfect, if we were, we would not be so unique. to boot, i do not opt for to seem as if actually everyone else, do you?! Probably because they are not emotionaly ready to face the fact that they already entering a higher age group or for other group of individuals, maybe because they are not happy with what they have while deep down they know they deserve better...It's more on emotional temptations and demands...

I believe many are trying to look perfect to make up for having nothing else to offer anyone, just their looks, once you get past the looks, would you really want to stay with them?
