"Because I am hard-working with great work ethics and I get along well with others, I am honest, punctual and positive."
Something to that effect.

Depends on the kind of job.
Obviously this question asked for a job at McDonalds is not going to have the same reply as your first banking job.
Banking job: Because I would be a great member of this team and an asset to your bank. I am honest, hard working and I have great customer service skills. As you can see from my transcripts, I have a proven level of excellence in math which I believe would allow me to serve as an efficent member of your team.

You should hire me because I am absolutely perfect in each and every way.
Including modesty.
Plus, I never take a job I don't like. Life is too short. So you know I'm going to be passionate about what I'm doing.

Its a question where HR and the Department head is seeking the qualities that they want in the "to be member of the squad"...
Firstly try to gather information about the working enviornment in the organisation and the Department and state that you have the essential to meet them....
If you unable to gather such information, use an amalgamation of your qualitites (past experience, qualification) and working essentials (communication skill, leadership / team lead qualties) etc.
Secondly... remember you can be counter questioned upon ur positives... be strong and uncomparable to any other contendor ... simple... here you have to sell you self
