I think that India has a lot more chance in the Cricket World Cup than the FIFA World Cup for Football/Soccer. India has a slight chance in maybe 20 years in football if everyone gave up cricket and started playing soccer.
Seriously Australia are the in form Cricket team though with a few recent retirement it will be interesting to see how we cope with the experience of the Indian team. I still think Australia will win the cricket :-)
India may have the consolation prize of betting Pakistan - which I understand is almost as good :-)

Yaa I think so 90 % of India's chances of winning World Cup. India has so much potential and many talented players too. If you look through India's past performance in World Cup its very exellent. But they have to improve their game under pressure conditions, and if they come out with this situation they are definitely going to win the World cup.

Ahem... this question is under the FIFA WORLD Cup category. I'd suggest you lower your expectation when it comes to Indian football. Perhaps India should try to compete in regional football competitions first such as in the Asian Games, or Commonwealth Games or something similiar to gauge their performance level... before even thinking about the FIFA World Cup. You need to learn to walk before you can run.

They didn't even made the world and actually someone ask if india will make it? OMG India WILL NOT MAKE IT! they can be creamed by any country... I think... maybe throw in China (they made it and lost against Brazil a horrific points)

It depends on how well they play, but the next World Cup will be in South Africa in 2010.... not 2007.

If we see the performance of india is very bad in india and abord.
india ranking is very down and the comprison of others team like Aus.,Sau etc is very good.i think india chance in word cup is minimum like approx. 45%.
